Polytechnic University of Bari

Via Edoardo Orabona, 4, 70126 Bari BA, Italy

The Polytechnic University of Bari, founded in 1990, is a leading Italian public institution specializing in scientific and technological education. It offers a wide range of engineering and architecture programs across five departments. With 11,000 students and 500 employees (including professors, researchers, and other staff), the university is known for its research excellence and high graduate employment rate.

The Polytechnic University of Bari will design a robot for biomass assessment and foliar treatments of leafy vegetables. In soilless tomato cultivation, we will implement robotic systems with 2D and 3D sensors for continuous plant monitoring. Both applications utilize deep learning for informed agronomic decision-making.

“The AgRibot project represents a crucial opportunity for the Polytechnic University of Bari to apply our expertise in robotic technologies and artificial intelligence to real-world agricultural challenges. By developing highly automated systems for both open field and greenhouse cultivation, we expect to significantly advance the state-of-the-art in precision agriculture. This project will allow us to further our research in areas such as robotic navigation, sensor integration, and deep learning applications for crop management, ultimately contributing to more sustainable and efficient farming practices.”
