The 2nd ICAERUS Demonstration Event in Greece gathered researchers, farmers, and innovators to experience the next generation of agricultural robotics. The demonstrations showed how drones, UAVs, and autonomous vehicles can make spraying more accurate, field management more efficient, and farming overall more sustainable.
The event also served as a meeting point for synergy across EU agri-tech projects, including SPADE, OpenAgri, AgRibot, AgRimate, COP-PILOT, Climate Farm Demo, Climate Smart Research, Climate Smart Advisors, and Smart Droplets. This collaborative approach strengthens knowledge exchange and accelerates innovation across Europe’s farming ecosystems.
Representing AgRibot, Thanasis Tzimourtas from the Smart Farming Technology Group at AUA showcased the university’s contributions to the project, presenting recent advances in UGV-based autonomous navigation, real-time weed detection, and precision spraying. These developments reflect AgRibot’s broader mission — bringing robotics and AI solutions closer to European farms and helping farmers make more sustainable, data-driven decisions.
