EU CAP Network Workshop – Sensing the future

January 27 @ 08:00 - January 28 @ 17:00

The EU CAP Network workshop “Sensing the future: practical applications of proximal and remote sensing for farmers and advisors” will focus on the practical use of proximal and remote sensing technologies—including satellites, drones, and sensor-equipped machinery—to support farm and forestry decision-making. These technologies generate large volumes of data that can inform both strategic planning and real-time, in-field management, contributing to more efficient and sustainable agricultural practices.

The event will address not only technological aspects, but also the economic and social dimensions of sensing technologies, including barriers to adoption such as cost, complexity, data interpretation, data governance, and trust. Discussions will move beyond policy frameworks to highlight real-world applications, integration into farm management systems, and future development pathways.

The workshop aims to:

  • Showcase practical applications, benefits, and limitations of proximal and remote sensing in agriculture and forestry
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange among farmers, advisors, researchers, and technology providers
  • Explore methods for integrating data from multiple sources into farm decision-making tools
  • Identify common technical, financial, and social barriers to adoption

Target audience

Participants will include farmers, foresters, agricultural advisors, researchers, technology providers, members of EIP-AGRI Operational Groups and Horizon projects, National CAP Networks, and farmers’ associations from across the EU.

  • Valencia, Spain
