Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche

Piazzale Aldo Moro, 7 – 00185 Roma, Italia

CNR-STIIMA (Institute of Intelligent Industrial Technologies and Systems for Advanced Manufacturing) carries out scientific research and technology transfer to promote innovation and sustainability with a focus on robotics, automation, signal and image processing, measurement and decision support systems in complex and dynamic contexts. CNR-ISPA’s (Institute of Sciences of Food Production) research is focused on safety, quality, and sustainability in the agri-food sector. Particular attention is given to optimizing cultivation techniques for sustainable vegetable production in Mediterranean conditions.

CNR will be involved in the development and implementation of multi-sensor systems and AI techniques integrated on-board agricultural vehicles for growth monitoring of leafy vegetables in open field conditions and of greenhouse soilless tomato cultivations.

“Within the AgRibot project, we aim to boost the integration of robotic and AI technologies directly in the field to automate agricultural operations both in innovative (soilless) and traditional (soil-bound) cultivation systems, thus reducing labour for workers and increasing sustainability of production processes while improving product quality.”
