University of Bari 'Aldo Moro' (UNIBA)

Piazza Umberto I – 70121 Bari, Italy

The University of Bari (UNIBA), among the largest public university institution in Italy, is represented in the AgRibot project by the Department of Soil, Plant and Food Sciences (DiSSPA), engaged in teaching, research and social impact in the environmental, agricultural and food science fields. The DiSSPA is currently ranked as Department of Excellence by the Italian National Agency For The Evaluation Of Universities And Research Institutes.

UNIBA coordinates the agronomic set-up of the two case studies in Italy (PC3: Pilot robotic solutions integrated with AI for dynamic fertilisation management of leafy vegetables in open-field condition; PC4: AI infused robotic system for driving decisions on crop cycle deployment in soilless tomato cultivation), performing field trials and related data analysis for evaluation of AgRibot solutions in terms of effects on crop performance and agronomic resources use efficiency.

“The AgRibot technological solutions will contribute to improving the sustainability and profitability of production processes in agriculture, supporting growers and agronomists in the acquisition and dynamic processing of data from the cultivation environment. Our mission and ambition are to exploit the potential of these technological solutions by integrating them into science-based agricultural approaches aiming to maximize the use efficiency of agronomic inputs.”
